MARIETTA, GA — The man accused of intentionally causing a car crash in August that left one woman dead and another critically injured has been indicted by a Cobb County grand jury.

Michael Lauray, 31, of Marietta, was indicted last week on seven counts: malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, terroristic threats, making false statements and battery, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Police said Lauray "intentionally struck" another car driven by his fianceé Carese Wright, 25, back in August, Patch previously reported. Alexus Hickling, 24, of College Park, was the passenger in Wright's car.

The collision caused Wright to lose control of the car and cross into oncoming southbound traffic in front of a car driven by Jodie Wasson, 42, of Austell. Wasson hit the passenger side of Wright's car, and Hickling suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash, police said. Wright also suffered critical injuries from the crash, and Wasson had minor injuries.

Lauray initially left the scene, but came back "a short time later" and was not injured.

"This collision/intentional striking between Wright and Lauray was a continuation of a domestic violence incident that escalated through the night and into the morning of the crash," a Marietta Police Department spokesperson said in August.

Lauray was arrested Sept. 6 and has been held in the Cobb County jail without bond since then.
