Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. On Friday night, a man died after officials said he was run over by a bus in the area of Ernest Barnett Parkway and Chastain Meadows Parkway in Cobb County. Police reported that Stevie Eugene Haskins, 65, was exiting a CobbLinc transit bus when he fell into the concrete gutter next to the sidewalk. The bus driver did not realize Haskins was there, and when the driver pulled away, the bus's rear tire ran over Haskin's leg. Police are continuing to investigate but no charges are expected to be filed. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. A man has been accused of impersonating a police officer after telling Marietta police officers that he was previously an officer in New York, but couldn't produce any credentials. Antonio Ocasio was seen by Marietta police officers on Saturday night walking in the street on Wilson Drive. Marietta Police Department Public Information Officer Chuck McPhilamy said he believes Ocasio claimed to be a former law enforcement officer in order to avoid a ticket. McPhilamy advised the public that legitimate police officers have badges and badge numbers, along with patches and other identifiers. (WSBTV)
  3. The Cobb County Branch of the NAACP will host the upcoming 20th annual Juneteenth Celebration. The event will take place in Marietta Square from Friday, Jun. 16 through Sunday, Jun. 18. Juneteenth is the country's longest-running African American holiday, and it marks the date — Jun. 19, 1865 — when all enslaved people were emancipated. In Marietta, the event weekend will include an Evening Under the Stars on Friday, a Cultural Fest on Saturday, and a Father's Day Salute on Sunday. (City of Marietta, Ga., Government via Facebook)
