Marietta Man Sentenced To 30 Years For Child Molestation: Cobb DA

BREAKING: Cobb prosecutors said Andres Perez Brito, 38, was rooming in the victim's Lassiter Road home in June 2014 during the incident.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Marietta man has been sentenced to serve 30 years in prison without parole after pleading guilty to sodomizing a 12-year-old boy whose family he rented a room from, Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds announced Monday.

Cobb prosecutors said Andres Perez Brito, 38, was rooming in the victim’s Lassiter Road home in June 2014 when he coaxed the boy in his room and held him down and "attacked him," according to a news release from the Cobb DA's Office.

Later on, the child's mother heard a startling conversation between her son and the accused. Away at work, Brito called the family's home and asked to speak to the boy, which the boy's parent thought was sketchy.

The boy put the call on speakerphone so his mother could hear. That's when Brito told the child that he loved him and not to tell his mother about the earlier incident. Brito also vowed to the child that he'd buy him “whatever he wanted,” prosecutors said.

The family then notified the authorities. Strangely, Brito abruptly sought a ride to the airport, according to his boss.

He was arrested in June 2014 and has remained behind bars since then. His trial began on March 13 and three days later, Brito pleaded guilty to child molestation, aggravated sodomy, enticing a child for indecent purposes, false imprisonment and aggravated child molestation.

“It’s a shame that it took this predator so long to accept responsibility for his actions, but the trial provided this victim the opportunity to stand up to his abuser. After hearing the emotional testimony of the victim and his family, I’m sure the defendant began to realize he was not going to escape the truth,” said Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring.

Brito was represented by Marietta attorney David Meyers.
