One In Custody After Manhunt In Cobb County
A suspect who shot at a Cobb police officer was the subject of a manhunt that stretched into Tuesday morning.
AUSTELL, GA -- One man is in custody after being the target of an overnight manhunt in Cobb County. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was arrested late Tuesday morning after he allegedly shot at a police officer late Monday night. Police said the incident happened around 10 pm Monday night near Janet Lane. Officers responded to reports of a resident who told police they felt threatened by the suspect because of a previous encounter.
An officer then saw the suspect in a UHaul and approached him, which is when police said the suspect pulled a gun and shot toward the officer. who responded with gunfire. The suspect then fled the scene.
There are no reports of injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to take over the case, as is customary with any officer-involved shooting in the state.
