Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

1. Sixty Marietta elementary students were accompanied by local police officers, public safety officials, and volunteers to go shopping as part of the annual Shop with a Cop event. Each child received $250 to buy presents and necessities. According to organizer Lt. Gretchen Ingram, the event is funded entirely by donations. (MDJOnline.com)
2. A Marietta man pleaded guilty to killing two Cobb County deputies on Sep. 8. On Thursday, Christopher Golden pleaded guilty to malice murder and other charges. According to Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Golden was sentenced to serve life in prison without parole. (Marietta Patch)
3. At the final Cobb Legislative Delegation meeting of the year, Cobb County employers talked about their struggles to fill many vacant positions. The Cobb County School District spoke about struggling to find workers for frontline and bus driver positions. (MDJOnline.com)
