Marietta Man Charged In Fatal Crash That Killed friend
Freddie Perdue of Marietta is facing vehicular homicide charges in crash that killed his friend, Cherokee authorities say.
MARIETTA, GA -- A Cobb County man is behind bars after being charged in a fatal car crash early Saturday that claimed the life of his friend, authorities said. Freddie Perdue, 37, of Marietta is facing with multiple charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred about 7:26 a.m. on Interstate 575 near Riverstone Parkway in Canton, the office said. Thirty-three-year-old Shantavia Roberts of Dallas was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Sgt. Marianne Kelley said.
Canton Police Chief Mark Mitchell told Patch Perdue allegedly tried to flee on foot after the crash, but was apprehended a short time later.
