Marietta Man Who Robbed People Via Craigslist Gets 20 Years

Christopher Jordan Intemann, 23, lured unsuspecting Craigslist shoppers to his Marietta home, then robbed them, Cobb DA says.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Marietta man who lured people to his home by advertising items on Craigslist then robbing them will spend two decades in prison, Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds announced Thursday.

Christopher Jordan Intemann, 23, was convicted by a Cobb jury last week for robbing three people who responded to the ads in the fall of 2015, the DA said. Unsuspecting shoppers twice were instructed by Intemann to come to Thurleston Court to purchase electronics. In October 2015, Intemann pulled a gun on a man and took the $500 he brought to buy an iPhone for his wife. In another instance the following month, Intemann robbed two more people at gunpoint, taking their phones and $1,000 when they showed up at his door to buy a laptop he had listed, the DA said.

In both cases, Intemann admitted he posted the ads, but he claimed others committed the armed robberies.

Cobb prosecutors said that the case serves as a warning to residents about the dangers of online commerce -- but also to perpetrators who think they can rob people behind the guise of computer transactions.

Drive-By Robber In Decatur: 'Give Me Your iPhone'

“Our community is using these websites to conduct commerce, and we must keep them safe,” Assistant District Attorney Brendan Murphy said Wednesday in court, according to a news release. “This case also serves as a reminder to the public to be cautious when shopping online. More importantly, it’s a message to those who would prey on our community: You will get caught, you will be prosecuted, and you will go to prison for a long time.”

Cobb Superior Court Judge Reuben Green handed down a 30-year sentence, with a mandatory 20 behind bars and the rest on probation. Intemann was represented by Marietta attorney Grady Moore.
