Pedestrian Struck, Killed Early Friday Morning In Marietta

A 61-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while crossing South Marietta Parkway.

MARIETTA, GA -- A 61-year-old man was struck and killed early Friday morning while crossing South Marietta Parkway outside of a designated crosswalk. Police said the crash happened on South Marietta west of Powers Ferry Road when James Stein, 45, was unable to avoid hitting the man.

After the victim, whose name has not been released, was stuck the first time, he was knocked to the ground and was unresponsive. A second motorist, identified as Dustin Little of Roswell, Georgia, was unable to avoid him and struck him a second time.

The pedestrian was taken to Kennestone Hospital where he died from his injuries.
