Marietta Police Unveil New Tech Plan To Curb Careless Drivers: ICYMI

Marietta Police Department is introducing a plan to deal with aggressive drivers and it includes community participation via social media.

MARIETTA, GA -- The Marietta Police Department is introducing a new plan to deal with aggressive drivers that cause problems, or worse, fatalities, on the city's roads. The department will rolling out a five-step community policing.

The program's goal is to better manage commuter traffic by partnering with residents that witness careless driving and motorists who cut through traffic, nearly causing accidents. While the department is releasing few details as of now, the new initiative is set to begin with the 2017-2018 school year, the police force said on Facebook.

The initiative will include:

1. Awareness through social media
2. Evaluation of traffic & complaint resolution through technology
3. Placement of digital message boards
4. Information pamphlet created and distributed
5. Enforcement
Marietta police said that commuters will see an "increased police presence" on the city's roadways along with a series of "connected strategies" over the next few months. They said that more details on the program will be available in the coming weeks.
