- A man was charged with the sexual assault of a young girl at Shaw Park on Sunday. Cobb Police have charged a transient man with the rape of a 12-year-old girl at Shaw Park. Douglas Darch, 62, remains at the Cobb Adult Detention Center without bond. He is charged with felonies, including aggravated child molestation, child molestation, aggravated assault, cruelty to children, and making terroristic threats. (East Cobb News)

- In case you missed it: The Marietta School Board plans to invest $7 million in literacy and learning loss recovery from COVID-19. The Board of Education unanimously approved 40 additional full-time reading specialists in grades one through five for the next school year, in addition to providing a one-time $5,000 supplement to all credentialed teachers and coaches providing direct reading instruction. Marietta County Schools are actively recruiting teachers to be full- and part-time reading specialists to aid with this increase and prioritization of literacy. (Press Release Desk)

- The Marietta Police Department hosted a cub scout pack from Atlanta over the weekend. The pack came to the department for a tour and gun safety class; they also got a special visit from K-9 Tyson, who was all too happy to show off his skills.
