The district's overall score improve by over five points.
MARIETTA, GA (from Marietta City Schools) — Schools in Marietta City Schools (MCS) outpaced the state at every level in performance and improvement on the Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), based on data released today from the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE). The district’s overall CCRPI score also increased by 5.2 points to a total of 80.4; in comparison, the state’s overall score is 75.9. According to the GADOE, the CCRPI measures five components - Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness and Graduation Rate (high schools only). In the second year of the redesigned assessment, MCS saw significant gains in overall scores at three schools: Marietta Middle Schools (+9.7 points), Hickory Hills Elementary School (+15.4 points), and Sawyer Road Elementary School (+20.5 points).
“We know that students who are supported and engaged will achieve at a higher and more consistent level,” said Grant Rivera, Superintendent of Marietta City Schools. "Our teachers, support staff, and principals are the most dedicated and motivated people that I know, and we are all committed to helping each child learn to their fullest potential. I am proud of the work that we do every day to close the achievement gap, provide outstanding educational opportunities, and ensure the brightest future for our students.”
MCS demonstrated extraordinary achievements in Closing Gaps scores, which measure how all students and all student subgroups are making improvements in achievement rates. Two schools, Hickory Hills Elementary and Marietta Middle, received scores of 100, earning all possible points in this category. Additionally, MCS three schools achieved high scores: Sawyer Road (96.2), Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (96.2), and Dunleith (95.5).

The outstanding results in the Closing Gaps category are particularly noteworthy in comparison to the state, which MCS outperformed at every level. In the MCS Strategic Plan, the MCS Board of Education and Superintendent prioritized closing the achievement gap with an emphasis on race, programs, and poverty. The focus of the Strategic Plan and the dedication of the district to this critical initiative are evidenced with MCS significantly surpassing the state’s performance in Closing Gaps. One of the most significant disparities is at the middle school level with MCS achieving a perfect score of 100 compared to the state’s score of 50 points. At the elementary level, MCS received 84.7 points (10.9 higher than the state), and Marietta High School earned 86.1 points while the state has 80.
This year’s results in the Progress category also show that MCS schools are significantly closing the achievement gap. Three schools received impressive scores, proving that students are growing academically at a higher and faster rate than similar students throughout the state: Dunleith (97.3), Sawyer Road (91.1), and Marietta High School (93.7).

Three Marietta schools received a five-star climate rating: Dunleith Elementary, Hickory Hills Elementary, and Marietta Sixth Grade Academy. The school climate star rating is determined by a combination of criteria, which includes discipline, attendance, survey data, and safe learning environment. Each school receives a School Climate Star Rating, which is calculated using data from the Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0, Georgia School Personnel Survey, Georgia Parent Survey, student discipline data, and attendance records for students and staff.
