Marietta Truck Driver Convicted In Road-Rage Assault

Quantuse Johnson punched a motorist in the face so hard it broke the man's nose and bones around his eye. He told police he "lost his cool."

MARIETTA, GA -- A Marietta truck driver has been convicted of assaulting another motorist in a case of road rage. Last week, a Cobb jury convicted Quantuse Jace Johnson, 46, of aggravated battery for the attack that occurred on May 19, 2017. About 6 pm that evening, Johnson was driving his semi-truck on South Cobb Drive just north of I-285 when he came upon the other vehicle, which had broken down. The victim tried to move the vehicle off the roadway but the back of his car had not quite cleared the travel lane.

Johnson first yelled at victim, then stopped his truck, got out and crossed the road, and punched the victim in the face with a closed fist at least twice, breaking the man’s nose and bones around the eye, necessitating surgery. Johnson struck the man through his open car door, so he didn’t even have a chance to exit the car or defend himself. Witnesses included two Atlanta police officers who had stopped to get a meal at a nearby Chick-fil-A. Once detained by Smyrna police, Johnson said he had “lost his cool.”

Johnson will be sentenced on April 12. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
