Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- The Marietta Police Department has promoted its first female deputy chief. Major Tanya Twaddell was chosen by new Chief of Police Marty Ferrell after interviewing all qualified internal candidates. Twaddell has been with the department for over 25 years and has served in all three divisions. (Press Release Desk)
- As of Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., Cobb County is now in a state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency for all of the state's counties. Georgia's State Operations Center has been activated to respond to Hurricane Ian. The tropical storm is expected to leave Georgia on Sunday. (Cobb County Courier)
- Officials report that missing 16-year-old Jayden Boston may be in the Cobb County area. The teen went missing on Friday from Willow Shoals Drive in Covington. He was last seen wearing a red pullover with white shorts. Anyone with information on Boston's whereabouts is asked to contact Newton County investigators at 678-625-1515. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
