Mayor Announces Plans To Get Hair Cut, Work Out On Friday: Report
Mayor Steve Tumlin said on Facebook he would work out and get his hair cut Friday when coronavirus restrictions are relaxed.
MARIETTA, GA — After Monday’s controversial announcement by Gov. Brian Kemp that he would relax coronavirus restrictions on some businesses by Friday, Marietta Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin announced on Facebook his plans for Friday: a haircut and a workout.
By Tuesday afternoon, that Facebook post was no longer publicly visible.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Tuesday morning that Tumlin, Marietta’s Republican mayor since 2010, posted on Facebook that he planned to get his hair cut and work out at a gym this Friday. He also wrote that he would “begin eating everyday, breakfast, lunch and dinner at a Marietta restaurant” when more restrictions are lifted next Monday.

Tumlin reportedly also thanked Governor Kemp and encouraged people to shop and worship in Marietta while “respecting social distancing.”
The mayor and his assistant could not be reached Tuesday afternoon for comment.

Tumlin's endorsement of Kemp’s announcement contrasted with comments from Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who told ABC News Monday night she was “extremely concerned” about it.
"I will continue to use my voice as mayor of Atlanta to ask people to continue to stay home, follow the science and exercise common sense,” Lance Bottoms said.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance for reopening, released by President Donald Trump's administration, says states need 14 days of declining new case totals before they can begin easing restrictions. However, the numbers of deaths, hospitalizations and confirmed cases of coronavirus in Georgia are still increasing. As of noon Monday, the Georgia Department of Health reported 733 deaths, 18,947 cases and 3,550 hospitalizations.
