Mental Health Expert To Sign Copies Of Her Book 'My Mother’s Keeper' In Marietta

Mental health therapist Dr. Sheila Williams will sign copies of her book "My Mother's Keeper" at Barnes & Noble in Marietta.

MARIETTA, GA -- Mental health is a major medical concern for millions of people these days. Dr. Sheila Williams, a mental health therapist, author and consultant, is sharing her story about mental illness locally at an upcoming book-signing event in Cobb County.

With a master's degree in mental health counseling and more than 20 years of experience in the field, Williams wrote a book -- “My Mother’s Keeper” -- and will be signing it Saturday, August 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Town Center Prado (50 Barrett Parkway, Suite 3000, Building 3) in Marietta.

With national numbers showing that more than two out of 10 people show signs of mental illness, Williams is intent of shedding light on a taboo subject for many people.

“This statistic is much higher than what it was 20 and 30 years ago,” said Williams, “which is an indication that from a mental health perspective we are not getting better but rather worse, particularly in the black community because we don't seek help and don’t talk about it.”
