Rumors about Gorman, who was a volunteer coach at Pope High School, have been floating around for some time in Marietta and East Cobb parenting circles, Patch has learned.
Speaking to WSB-TV, a local mother who is choosing to remain anonymous to protect her son, said that she reported Gorman to police in 2011 when he was a volunteer wrestling coach at Pope High School.
The woman said she went to authorities after finding messages between Gorman and her son.
“I don't feel like the people that were in the positions down here to protect my child and to look into this, did as much as they could have or should have,” she told WSB-TV.

Gorman was fired from Life University in February, before his arrest in Cobb County, the school told Patch. Below is the statement the university released on Gorman's termination:

The news media has reported that Ron Gorman was arrested last night. Mr. Gorman started as a volunteer with our wrestling program and eventually became a full-time employee in our Athletic Department. The University never received complaints about Mr. Gorman regarding any incident occurring on our campus or involving any member of the LIFE community. Very recently, however, we did receive information about possible misconduct in the past involving students at another school. We immediately reported the information, put him on administrative leave and had our attorneys look into the matter. Mr. Gorman's employment with the University was terminated without his returning from administrative leave.
