Murder Cold Case From 1991 Yields Arrest

A palm print left at the scene of the murder was unmatched at the time, but a recent investigation found a match.

MARIETTA, GA — A 1991 murder case in Marietta has yielded an arrest, according to a release from the Cobb County District Attorney. Trent Allen Brown, 55, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 22.

The release says that on May 18, 1991, Cathy Glass was found dead in her Booth Road apartment in Marietta. In her early 30s, Glass was laying in a pool of blood with her apartment ransacked.

Police found a palm print at the scene, but there was no match.

In the past few weeks, however, police tested the print again and matched it to Brown, the release says. He had been investigated for other crimes in the area around that time.

Brown is currently locked up in Indiana for burglary, the release says, and Cobb authorities are trying to get him extradited to Georgia "as soon as possible."

"Twenty-eight years is a long time for a family to wait to find out what happened to their loved one, but there is no statute of limitations on murder," District Attorney Joyette Holmes said in the release. "My office will move expeditiously to bring Mr. Brown to justice."

Cobb County Police Chief Tim Cox said each piece of evidence in every case has value in investigations. "Though a long time coming, we are thankful evidence collected early in this case has helped justice continue to move forward," he said in the release.
