Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. Two people were injured in a car accident on I-75 southbound near North Marietta Parkway on Saturday night. The crash involved a Chevrolet Silverado and a Nissan Altima, with the Chevrolet leaving its lane for reasons unknown and flipping over after hitting the guardrail. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment, while the investigation into the accident continues. (WSB-TV)
  2. A Cobb County police officer rescued three men trapped in vehicles after a crash with a tractor-trailer. Sgt. Beasley helped rescued three drivers before his shift began last month. Concerned about the possibility of fire due to diesel leaking onto the ground and engine parts smoking, he called for assistance and all three drivers were safely extracted with the help of other officers and citizens. (WSB Radio)
  3. Two fallen Cobb County deputies, Jonathan Randall Koleski and Marshall Samual Ervin, Jr., were recently honored by members of law enforcement after losing their lives while serving a warrant in September 2022. The deputies were shot by Christopher Golden, who has since taken a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. While happy to be honoring the fallen officers, members of law enforcement recognize there is still much healing to be done in the wake of this tragedy. (11Alive.com WXIA)
