  1. On Wednesday, Cobb and Marietta firefighters carried out an early morning rescue of a person who had fallen 20 to 30 feet through a narrow opening of a parking garage at The Battery. According to the agency, the rescue effort began at around 1 a.m. at The Battery's yellow deck and lasted for almost an hour. In a Facebook post, Cobb Fire reported that the workers were able to reach the 2-foot opening, stabilize the patient, provide painkillers, and make a rescue harness to remove the patient to a Metro Atlanta Ambulance. There are no updates on the status of the individual as of Thursday. (MDJOnline.com)
  2. Efren Jimenez Padron, 43, is accused of beating and killing Lorenzo Tatum with a piece of two-by-four lumber with exposed screws during an altercation on Sunday, Apr. 30. As stated by Marietta Police Spokesperson, Officer Chuck McPhilamy, Tatum’s body was discovered by people in the area behind the Latinos Beauty Salon in the Westside Shopping Center on Sandtown Road. Although there were no witnesses to the altercation, people did see the suspect afterward and exchanged information with police, which resulted in a quick arrest. Padron was arrested and put into the Cobb Adult Detention Center on Monday, May 1, without bond, and is charged with murder and aggravated assault. (MDJOnline.com)
  3. Following an eight-hour manhunt sprawling into metro Atlanta, 24-year-old Deion Patterson, the alleged shooter in Midtown’s tragic shooting, was arrested in Cobb County on Wednesday. Patterson faces a murder charge and four counts of aggravated assault in the attack that left one woman dead, and four others injured on Wednesday. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum has confirmed that 39-year-old Amy St. Pierre, who was an employee of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, died from her injuries.
