  1. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Cobb County over the weekend due to expected widespread showers and thunderstorms. Scattered thunderstorms are possible during the day on Friday, and a couple of storms could be strong or severe in central Georgia during the afternoon or evening. Hail and damaging winds are the primary concerns. Stronger storms are likely going into Saturday evening. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. A groundbreaking for a portion of Cobb County's Chattahoochee RiverTrails Network was held at the Riverline Discovery Park in nearby Mableton. The start of work on the 2.5-mile trail brought praise from Cobb Chairwoman Lisa Cupid, District 4 Commissioner Monique Sheffield, and Senator Jon Ossoff. The Chattahoochee River Trail Pedestrian Improvement Project will provide connectivity to future tributary trails planned along Mableton Parkway and Nickajack Creek and will eventually be part of the regional Chattahoochee RiverLands project, linking trails to other parts of metro Atlanta. (Cobb County Gov)
  3. The Marietta History Center will be hosting its monthly Pop-In event on Saturday, May 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Titled "Choo Choo Trains," this pop-in will provide children and their families the opportunity to interact with the museum through train-themed activities and crafts. • The Cobb Economic Development's next "Coffee and Conversations" event is scheduled for Monday, May 15 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. in District 1. The goal of the event is to foster meaningful relationships between Cobb Economic Development and small businesses to help Cobb's local economy thrive. (Cobb County, GA via Twitter)
  • A new study by Bumper.com found that electric vehicle ‘charging deserts’ – places where charging stations and ports are in short supply – stretch across states, largely divided by economic and racial lines.
