Church Street Reopens After Suspicious Package Cleared (Update)

The suspicious package that closed a portion of Church Street Thursday afternoon was found to be safe, Marietta police said.

A suspicious package that had closed Church Street between Lemon and Cole streets is not dangerous, Marietta police said Thursday afternoon.

The call came into the Marietta Trolley Company building at 131 Church St., police spokeswoman Brittany Wallace said. The Cobb County bomb squad and other law enforcement inspected the package and determined it contained personal items.

Church Street has been re-opened, police said.
