Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- The Renegade Film Festival continues this morning at 10 a.m. at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre. Last night saw the Georgia premiere of "Give Me An A," a collection of several films made in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade last year. The Lizzie Awards ceremony will be held tonight at 9:30 p.m. and judged by a guest jury, including director Adam Marcus and actress Heather Langenkamp. For more information and tickets click here. - Clearing the national average of 54 percent, Cobb County has solved 100 percent of homicides over the last two years, according to police in the jurisdiction. Over the last 23 months, there have been 62 homicides reported — and all 62 have been solved since March 2021. Police give credit to the new advancements in technology, such as cameras throughout the county and license plate readers, but also the hard work and dedication of the detectives working day and night on end. - On Thursday morning, a Cobb County police officer was involved in a car wreck near Atlanta Road at Bingham Street in the Fair Oaks area. Luckily, this was reported not to be a major collision and only minor injuries were reported.
