- Two workers have serious burn injuries as a result of a Cobb County construction site explosion. The incident occurred at Candlewood Suites Hotel along Corporate Plaza Parkway on Friday shortly after 1:00 p.m. According to fire investigators, the workers were attempting to light the gas when the explosion flash occurred. County fire officials are making sure the site's gas levels are safe in the building. (WSB Atlanta)
- Cobb County has announced students will be having a virtual learning day during the state's U.S. Senate runoff Election Day. Students will be learning through the Cobb Teaching and Learning System on Dec. 6. The online learning will allow election procedures to use several school buildings without education disruption. - A Cobb County judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the Marietta City Council. The lawsuit was filed by a prominent sex shop chain called Tokyo Valentino. According to the dismissed lawsuit, the city council illegally revoked the shop's business license. The council claims the license was revoked because the shop failed to disclose it would be selling sexually explicit items. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
