- A sinkhole has blocked access to dozens of condos here in Marietta. The sinkhole, which measures 15 feet by 15 feet, opened up on Wednesday night and has caused significant damage to the parking lot and roadways. The residents of the more than 70 affected units have been advised to stay away until further notice while the authorities work to repair the damage. (11 Alive)
- The 7th Annual Marietta Shamrock Shuffle 5K Walk/Run, a St. Patrick's Day-themed race, will take place on Saturday, Mar. 18, at 8:00 a.m. at Marietta Square. The race is open to runners and walkers of all levels and is a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. The proceeds from the event will go to support the Marietta Police Athletic League's youth sports, academic, and recreation programs. (East Cobber)
- The Marietta Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department has been recognized by the Georgia Forestry Commission, which awarded the department the Tree City USA award for the 39th year in a row. With the recent award, Marietta is now officially the second oldest Tree City in the state. In order to be eligible to receive the award, Marietta has a non-profit volunteer organization called Marietta Tree Keepers, which educates the public about trees and manages them in the city's parks and right-of-ways with the help of a certified arborist. - The Marietta High School student life center has introduced a new program called "Master Class," which aims to provide real-world skills to students. - The lineup for the 2023 Glover Park Summer Concert Series has been announced, and free entertainment will be available on the last Friday of each month from April to September at Marietta Square. - During the Marietta City Council meeting held on Mar. 8, Mayor Tumlin and the city council recognized Malachi Sanders of Marietta City Schools for being a 2023 State Champion wrestler.
