Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. Beginning on Wednesday, Jun. 14, the City of Marietta Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department will hold the "Storyteller Series" in partnership with Book'n It. The series will be part of a Literary Lunch Break in Glover Park on Marietta Square at noon and dramatic readings of classic tales will be presented. The series will be held once per week, so be sure to mark the first one on your calendar! (Cobb County Courier)
  2. A former Marietta High School student faces charges for allegedly bringing a gun and drugs into the school. Curtis Myers, 18, entered the school as students changed classes. According to police, once they caught up to him, they found marijuana and a loaded gun in his backpack. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. According to officials, a double shooting occurred in a Trader Joe's parking lot overnight in nearby Buckhead. Two men were found at the scene, one shot in the stomach, and the other was shot in the leg. Both men are expected to survive their injuries. This is a developing story. (11 Alive)

  • On Monday, May 22, Cobb County Animal Services will host a free adoption event. All pets featured in the trailer will be free to adopt and are heartworm tested, microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered. Come by at 11:00 a.m. (All Events)
  • Join Cobb County for the Memorial Day Pickleball Tournament! On Saturday, May 27, there will be men's and women's doubles, and on Sunday, there will be mixed doubles. There is a $45 registration fee, and those interested can register here. (Cobb County via Twitter)
