- Marietta City Schools Superintendent Grant Rivera is offering to pay for one college application fee for any Marietta High School senior. To qualify, the application must be submitted before the college's regular deadline. This will be the fourth year in a row that Rivera has offered this financial support. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A teenage student is being held at the Marietta Youth Detention Center for allegedly making a bomb threat to Etowah High School. The unidentified teenage girl is being held without bond. She has been charged with felony terroristic threats. The high school was placed on lockdown and evacuated on Sep. 28 after the threat was made. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released a statement regarding its investigation into an Oct. 8 officer-involved shooting. The incident occurred at 118 Francis Avenue in Marietta after a father called 911 for his son that was in crisis and suicidal. The Bureau has determined that the gun that was allegedly pointed at responding officers was an air rifle. The investigation will be passed to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office after its completion by the Bureau. (Cobb County Courier)
