Devonte Williams, 18, is in critical condition after opening fire on a Cobb County police officer during rush hour Tuesday.

MARIETTA, GA -- A suspect is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Cobb County, state officials said Wednesday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is looking into the incident, which happened Tuesday about 5:10 p.m. That's when the Kennesaw Police Department received an anonymous call about an 18-year-old wanted for armed robbery, according to a GBI news release.
The caller told police Devonte Williams' whereabouts as well as a description of the vehicle he was in. Soon after that, officers with the Kennesaw and Cobb County police departments found the vehicle. Williams was stopped at the intersection of Bells Ferry Road and Highway 41 and ordered to pull over.

According to a preliminary investigation, Williams pulled over in a business park parking lot and got out of the vehicle with a gun -- that's when he and Cobb officers exchanged shots.
