Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting At Marietta Apartment Complex
Man being served warrant tried to hit deputies in his vehicle before being fatally shot outside Marietta apartments.

MARIETTA, GA -- A suspect was shot and killed in a deputy-involved shooting Thursday at a Marietta apartment complex, Cobb County authorities said. A Cobb Sheriff's deputy with the undercover narcotics unit was attempting to serve a warrant related to a drug and guns investigation when the shooting occurred.
The incident happened when deputies descended upon the Liberty Point Apartments in the 700 block of Franklin Gateway in Marietta. The suspect tried to strike deputies with his vehicle, Cobb County sheriff’s Lt. Col. Robert Quigley told Patch. "We had the Cobb-Marietta-Smyrna Undercover narcotics unit serving a warrant on a drug/guns investigation," Quigley said. "Suspect struck a deputy with a vehicle and was shot."

The suspect, whose name has not been released, later died at the hospital. A duty was slightly injured in the incident, Quigley said.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave and the Cobb Sheriff's Office has requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation look into the matter, Quigley said.

In executing the search warrant, deputies found guns and drugs at the scene.
