Suspect In Marietta Bank Robbery Caught In Dunwoody

A Wells Fargo in Marietta was robbed by a masked man with a knife on Friday. Officers later arrested a suspect in Dunwoody.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Marietta man was arrested this past weekend in a bank robbery in Cobb County, police said. Ariam Malayery, 30, is being held in the Cobb Detention Center, authorities said.

Malayery demanded money from the tellers and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, fled on foot, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release Saturday. When police got a description of the suspect, officers from the Cobb and Dunwoody Police Departments were able to catch the suspect around the 4400 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road in Atlanta.

Malayery is charged with armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault. The case continues to be under investigation, Pierce said.
