I-75 Rollover Wreck Proves Fatal

Marietta police say the southbound Ford Explorer swerved to avoid another vehicle.

The driver who was ejected from her Ford Explorer in a rollover crash on Interstate 75 died Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Mary Davis, 59, of Acworth died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where she and her daughter, Leslie Davis, 43, were taken after the midday, single-vehicle wreck, Marietta police told the AJC. Davis was in critical condition Saturday night.

Two adults suffered critical injuries and a 4-year-old also was hurt this morning when a sport-utility vehicle rolled while heading south in Interstate 75 just south of the North Marietta Parkway in Marietta.

The initial investigation by the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program unit found that a Ford Explorer overturned about 11:35 when the driver swerved to avoid another vehicle, according to a police announcement through Nixle.

The Explorer rolled over serveral times, and the driver was thrown from the vehicle. An adult in the front passenger seat was trapped in the SUV, while a 4-year-old in the back seat suffered minor injuries, police reported.

No names have been released, pending notification of family.

The driver and adult passenger were taken to in critical condition, while the child was taken to in Sandy Springs in stable condition.

The accident and the investigation closed three lanes of southbound I-75 for more than an hour and backed up traffic into Kennesaw.

Police said no charges are expected against other drivers, but the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Stephen Miller at 770-794-5356.
