  1. The Marietta Police Department engaged in a standoff with a Wisconsin man on Thursday afternoon. The incident began when an individual tested 911 about the man holding a teen and a child hostage at Sope Creek Apartments on Roswell Road. The man was arrested on Friday around 12:45 a.m. No weapons were found. Durrell Harris, 35 years, is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. (Marietta Patch)
  2. Marietta Tree Keepers is actively searching for volunteers for a maintenance project at Hill Pocket Park. The project will be carried out on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sign-in and refreshments will be at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to attend. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Marietta residents can begin casting ballots on Monday, Oct. 17. The early voting ballots can be cast Monday through Friday leading up to the Nov. 8 General Election. Residents will also be able to cast early ballots on the second and third Saturdays. Voters can still request absentee ballots. (Patch)
