Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

1. Marietta Tree Keepers' Tea 'n Trees Stroll event is scheduled for today (Oct. 14) at 5:30 p.m. The event will be at the First United Methodist Church Park area on Whitlock Ave in Marietta. The free event will offer participants a leisurely stroll through the Environmental Loop. Marietta Tree Keepers' certified arborists will be providing information about native trees during the walk. 2. Cobb County election officials report that absentee ballots have been mailed. The update was provided through the county's social media accounts. The county also reports that its poll workers have been trained for advanced voting. Thirteen Cobb County locations will be offering advance voting beginning on Monday, Oct. 17. (11Alive.com WXIA)
3. The Cobb County Police Department is currently investigating a racial slur that was spray-painted on a Cobb County apartment complex wall. The incident occurred Wednesday morning at the Indy Apartment Complex in Marietta at a building occupied by Kennesaw State University students. The complex reports that the racial slur has been painted over. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
