Teen Faces Charges After Marietta Shooting Injures 2

Two teenagers were recently shot near a Marietta intersection, suffering injuries that were not life threatening, police say.

MARIETTA, GA — A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the nonfatal shooting of two teenagers last month at the North Marietta Parkway and Allgood Road intersection, Marietta Police said Thursday.

Police said officers arrested Xavier Ivan Moreno, of Marietta, early Thursday morning on several charges, including aggravated assault with intent to murder.

Officers responded around 1:15 p.m., April 21, to Roosevelt Circle. Police said while they were tending to the first teenager, a second 911 call dispatched officers to the area regarding a second teenager who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

During the investigation, it was determined the shooting occurred at the North Marietta-Allgood intersection, police said.

One of the teenagers was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, while the other was taken to the Children's Hospital of Atlanta. Police said their injuries were not life threatening.

Ten shell casings were collected during the investigation, police said.

Moreno was arrested on charges of nine counts of aggravated assault with intent to murder, second-degree criminal damage, two counts of criminal trespass damage, possession of a pistol by a minor and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

He was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, police said.
