Thursday: Marietta School District Welcomes Back Students

MARIETTA, GA -- Thursday, August 3 is the first day of classes for the Marietta School District. If you're a student, that means that no matter what you did over the summer, you will have all school year to make amends.

With the new school year comes increased traffic and scofflaws that won't slow down. Remember that by law, motorists are required to stop for a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended and lights flashing. Marietta police issued an advisory Wednesday, reminding motorists that class is now in session and to drive accordingly. "Kids will be out walking and wandering around bus stops," police said in the advisory. "Please drive safe and allow extra time for your morning commute."
