  1. A Duluth man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty of shooting and killing his girlfriend at a Marietta restaurant in 2020. The incident took place Dec. 6, 2020 at El Ranchero Restaurant on Cobb Parkway. Jose Ramon Lemus, 53, admitted to killing 43-year-old Janice Ross around 2:30 p.m. that day. The shooting led to lockdowns on the campuses of Kennesaw State and Life universities. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. This May, The Marietta History Center will be offering tombstone cleaning workshops at the Marietta City Cemetery. The workshops will be offered on three consecutive Saturdays: May 13, 20 and 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will also get a brief tour and history of the cemetery. Tickets can be purchased through the Museum’s online store at the link. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. As a reminder, the City of Marietta is seeking local musicians for its music festival lineup at the 45th Annual May-Retta Daze Festival Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. The festival, which will take place at the Historic Marietta Square, will showcase various live acoustic musical performances from local artists throughout both days. Musicians selected to perform during peak festival hours will receive compensation based on talent and skill. Applications can be found at the link. (Cobb County Courier)

  • Marietta Police is warning residents about bicycle theft. If leaving a bicycle unattended, make sure to lock it and have the serial number written down! (Marietta, Georgia Police Department via Facebook)
