Construction On Wellstar Kennestone's $263M Tower Starts, And So Do Closures
With construction starting on the Marietta hospital's $263 million tower, the hospital system announced entrance closures and changes.

MARIETTA, GA — Prep work on Wellstar Kennestone Hospital's proposed seven-story, $263 million tower began Monday, and the Marietta hospital announced several entrance changes and closures for patients to know.
The Church Street entrance to the hospital will be closed to the public during construction, as well as the covered walkway from the hospital's Blue Parking Deck.
This will shift the labor and delivery entrance and drop-off to inside the Blue Parking Deck at the existing Kennestone Outpatient Pavilion entrance, according to a news release. To access the L&D entrance, visitors will need to use Kennestone Hospital Boulevard, off Tower Road, then follow the signs into the covered Blue Parking Deck.

Visitors who park in the Blue Parking Deck can use the other sidewalk into the lobby or enter the hospital through the Purple Tower. The main lobby entrance will remain open, as will Kennestone Hospital Boulevard.
Additionally, Wellstar will have signs posted on the construction barricades, in the parking deck and in the hospital corridors. Traffic directors will also be stationed outside the hospital lobby to help visitors navigate the changes.

The tower is expected to be complete in 2025, pending state approval, and will add 61 acute-care beds to the hospital's existing 633 beds, as well as neonatal care. If approved, it will replace the Baird Building and is expected to open in mid-2025, the release said.
