Wellstar Tech Out Of Job Over Holocaust-Like Tattoo About Vaccine
The ex-employee posted a TikTok video with a fake tattoo of a vaccine lot number, akin to the prisoner number tattoos on Holocaust victims.
COBB COUNTY, GA — A Wellstar Health System surgical tech is "no longer an employee" after she posted a TikTok video likening the hospital system's COVID-19 vaccination mandate to the Holocaust.
Jessica Renzi was a surgical technologist with Wellstar, according to her LinkedIn profile, which is now deleted. Her TikTok account, which was @surgicalmomma, is also deleted.
Renzi posted the TikTok video last week showing off a handwritten "tattoo" on her inner forearm with a fake vaccine lot number, which actually ended up being a vulgar phrase when read upside down. The fake tattoo is similar to the prisoner numbers forcibly tattooed on the arms of Nazi concentration camp victims during the Holocaust.

While Renzi's TikTok account has been deleted, hundreds of other TikTok users responded to her video, so it can still be viewed.
"I finally decided to do my part and get the [vaccine], so I wanted to show you, since we're going to the vaccine passports and all those things — I thought I'd make it so much easier, and I was just going to go ahead and get the number tattooed on me instead," Renzi said in the video.

She flipped the camera around and shows off the fake tattoo with what she said is her vaccine lot number: 7734209. When read upside down — which she later shows in the video — it reads "Go to hell."
"Did you get it? Isn't that such a great idea?" Renzi said. She tagged the video "#patriot #funny #prochoice."
Officials with the hospital system sent the following statement:
"While we cannot comment on the specifics of this employee’s departure, Jessica Renzi is no longer an employee of Wellstar Health System.
"At Wellstar, we stand strongly against anti-Semitism as well as comments or behavior of any kind that do not serve our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where all team members treat others with compassion and respect. Wellstar remains steadfast in our mission to enhance the health and wellbeing of every person we serve."
Wellstar is making it mandatory for all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 1. The incident with Renzi came just days after roughly 150 Wellstar employees protested the mandate outside the hospital system's corporate offices last Wednesday.
Wellstar officials did not clarify if Renzi was fired or if she resigned.
