"Baby Harlan" Up for Adoption, Police Say

Investigators are still trying to locate the mother of the newborn who was left abandoned outside a home in Atlanta earlier this week.

Atlanta police are looking for prospective adoptive parents for a newborn baby who was discovered abandoned in front of a house earlier this week and are now offering a reward for anyone who can identify the baby’s birth mother.

“Baby Harlan” was discovered by three people just outside a home in the 200 block of Harlan Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday, police say. The newborn was wrapped in a pink ”Hello Kitty” blanket and appeared to be alert, conscious, and breathing, though she still had part of her umbilical cord attached to her and had specks of blood about her body. The little girl was transported to Scottish Rite Hospital.

An investigator with the Special Victims Unit located bloodied women’s underwear along Harlan Road near the home where the newborn was found, police say. The underwear was collected and the scene was processed.
