These Florida Pets Need ATL Forever Homes: Atlanta Humane Society

Cats and dogs that were moved to Atlanta from Florida are available for adoption, AHS says.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Atlanta Humane Society has made animals rescued from Florida shelters prior to Hurricane Irma available for adoption at its two main campuses, the organization said. AHS will be concluding operations at its temporary shelter soon.

The dogs and cats were brought to Atlanta to make way for lost and displaced animals affected by Irma, according to AHS spokeswoman Christina Hill. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)

"These adoptable animals are not animals who were lost or abandoned before, during or after the hurricane," Hill said in a news release to Patch. The animals all have their shots and have been spayed/neutered and microchipped.
