Atlanta police are investigating a possibly racist piece of graffiti which was spray painted on the side of a garage building in Midtown over the weekend.
An image of cartoon character Elmer Fudd dressed in a police uniform standing next to a sign which read “Negro Season” was first spotted in the 1400 block of West Peachtree Street at around 10 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report. The building manager spray painted over the graffiti at around 7:30 a.m. Monday. Police arrived an hour later and collected a lid for a can of black spray paint at the scene, the report says,

The building manager told police that he is reviewing security camera footage to see if he can spot the suspect. Investigators with Homeland Security will search other security cameras in the area for more images of the suspect. The graffiti artist spray painted the name ”MAES” with his work, though police have not been able to identify who or what MAES may be.
Police spokesman Greg Lyon tells Patch that the department has no new information to release on the matter, but adds that the investigation into the graffiti is progressing.
