Local United Way CEO Earns Herndon Honor
Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award announced in celebration of Black History Month.
ATLANTA, GA -- The head of the United Way of Greater Atlanta has been named the inaugural recipient of the Herndon Lifetime Achievement Award, the group announced Thursday.
The honor was bestowed by the Alonzo F. and Norris B. Herndon Foundation, a venerable Atlanta institution that supports philanthropic activities around metro area.
Milton J. Little Jr., who is president and CEO of the local United Way, controls more than $100 million in revenue among more than 200 groups in Atlanta's surrounding municipalities.

The foundation said new details on the Herndon Game Changer program, which provides entrepreneurial skills to metro Atlanta youths, will be announced on Feb. 8 at the historic Herndon House in Atlanta's Vine City neighborhood.
Alonzo Herndon was a former slave who went on to become Atlanta's first African-American millionaire.

The Herndon Home, built in 1910, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
