Viewfinder: Taste Of the Market in Monroe
Crowds turned out Saturday for the first Taste of the Market on the Historic Courthouse Square in Monroe, Ga.
Even the heat didn't deter the crowds who turned out in downtown Monroe Saturday for the first Taste of the Market. It did, however, help sell out the iced coffee and homemade lemonade from Farmers Market vendors.
The event featured foods prepared by area chefs using locally grown produce from Farmers Market vendors. The Monroe Farmers Market has been well supported, and the Taste of the Market was able to show just what taste cuisine can be prepared from the produce purchased there.
Local restaurants such as Amici's and Where There's Smoke, as well as out of towners such as Graft in Grayson and Georgia Club from Athens prepared food with local produce.
