Man Lends Helping Hand, Gets Robbed at Gunpoint in North Decatur
The 19-year-old victim was forced to hand over $100 from an ATM before he chased after ths suspect in his car and lost him on Lawrenceville Highway on Sunday.

An Atlanta man who thought he was helping someone to the nearest grocery store was instead held at gunpoint and forced to hand over $100 from an ATM on Sunday, DeKalb County police said.
The 19-year-old victim was filling up his gas tank at the gas station on Lawrenceville Highway at about 2:45pm when he was approached by the suspect who said he was looking for the near Publix grocery, the police report said.
The victim told the man the nearest , and he advised the suspect to follow him in his car to the store. But once the victim and suspect arrived at the grocery, the suspect pulled out a black handgun and told the victim to take money from the Wells Fargo ATM in the Publix parking lot.

The victim told the suspect he could only withdraw $100 and gave it to the suspect who handed the victim a white envelope and said, "Don't call the police because I have this."
When the suspect drove away, the victim tried to chase after him in his car, but he lost the suspect near the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Orion Drive, the report said. The victim tossed the envelope in the trash at the QuikTrip, but police retrieved it later and placed it in evidence.

The suspect was described as a black male between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and between 130 to 140 pounds. He had facial hair and wore a black T-shirt and dark blue jeans and was driving a tan Chevrolet sedan.
