Clairmont Gas Station Manager Robbed at Gunpoint for Motor Oil

The robbery happened Saturday at the Chevron station at 2755 Clairmont Rd., DeKalb County police said.

A gas station manager on Clairmont Road was robbed at gunpoint for a case of motor oil outside his station Saturday afternoon, DeKalb County police said.

The 47-year-old victim drove in the parking lot of the station at 2755 Clairmont Rd. at about 1:30pm, the police report said. The victim got out, walked to the rear of his car and removed a case of two gallons of oil meant for a shelf in the station.

Two suspects, one in a car, the other on foot, had been waiting in the parking lot since about 11:45am, surveillance footage showed. When the manager grabbed the oil, one suspect clutching a gun in his right hand approached the victim and pointed the weapon at his midsection, demanding the case.

The suspect took the case and ran northbound on foot to the rear of the nearby IHOP restaurant, through the parking lot and then through a hole in the fence where he hopped into the car driven by the second suspect, witnesses said, and laid down.

The vehicle, a 2010 or 2011 black BMW with a black and white dealership tag, was last seen moving northbound on Briarcliff Road. The gun-wielding suspect was described as a black male about 21-22 years old with medium to light brown skin. He is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and between 125 and 120 pounds. He wore a black or dark-colored baseball cap with a long, white T-shirt with white or beige long shorts, the report said.
