Coming Up: Cluster Meeting, Knitting, Fun Run, Marketplace and More

What's coming up this week in the area? Make sure your event is represented in our Events Calendar.

We'll kick things off with a meeting a little outside this neighborhood but of interest to many residents.

Druid Hills Charter Cluster Public Meeting. The Charter Cluster will host a public meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, to update the community and answer questions about the recent DeKalb County Board of Education petition review results. This meeting will be held in the cafeteria of Druid Hills Middle School, 3100 Mt Olive Drive, Decatur.  The DeKalb County Board of Education will vote on the Cluster petition in November.

Also coming up:

Trick or Treat at North DeKalb Mall. 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the mall. Balloons will mark the participating stores. Trick-or-treaters can have their pictures taken with Broomhilda the Witch.

Knit/Crochet Workshop and Prayer. 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, Shallowford Presbyterian Church,  2375 Shallowford Road.  Everyone can learn to knit or crochet. Sagamore Hills Elementary Festival/5K/Fun Run. The school's first Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival is 11 a.m.-2 p.m Saturday, Nov. 2., 1865 Alderbrook Road, Atlanta. 5K starts at 10:30; cost: $25. Register here. Fun run for children 13 and under is free.

Athena's Marketplace. 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Hellenic Center Atrium, 2500 Clairmont Road. An array of vendors selling merchandise or food. Greek lunches available, with take home prepackaged and prepared specialty food items.
