IHM Student Wins Archdiocesan Oratorical Contest

Ariel Kim, an eighth-grader at , won first place in the Archdiocese of Atlanta's Office of Catholic Schools' Oratorical Contest. Ariel presented a speech about the significant role volunteers played in the Underground Railroad.
Ariel won first place at IHM and advanced to the semi-final round where she competed against other school winners. She then continued on to the final round of the competition and won first place.
The Oratorical is a function of the Archdiocese of Atlanta's Office of Catholic Schools and is sponsored by the Modern Woodmen of America. Students in grades 6-8 from all over the Archdiocese of Atlanta participated. This year, students were asked to present a speech about "a time when volunteers made a difference."

Miss Kim's teachers and sponsors were Tracey LaFreniere, Kathleen Pyrce, and Mike Demarest.
