St. Pius X Announces Academic Accolades

An announcement from St. Pius X Catholic High School:

St. Pius X Catholic High School is pleased to announce recent recipients of academic accolades.  These include students nominated as semifinalists for National Merit Awards  and the National Achievement Scholarship program.  In addition, the representative to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation (HOBY) has been announced.

The National Merit Scholarship Program provides opportunities for scholarships to outstanding students throughout the country who succeed in their studies and perform with excellence on the PSAT examination.  Three students from St. Pius X were selected for the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Competition as Semifinalists: Andrew Anastasiades (Atlanta), Margaret Crawford (Decatur) and Christina DeLurgio (Atlanta).  In addition, two Semifinalists were named for the National Achievement Scholarship Program: Alexis Harrell (Tucker) and Isioma Obiofuma (Lawrenceville). Finalists for these scholarships will be announced later in the school year.

Reed Egan (Buford) was named the St. Pius X representative to the HOBY seminar.  HOBY sponsors an annual seminar in each state and in many foreign countries for high school sophomores.  It is a three-day seminar for one nominated sophomore from each participating high school.  The qualities required of the representative are leadership, cooperation, sensitivity for others, and the desire to share and grow these qualities.
