3 Alleged Gang Members Sentenced In Fatal Gwinnett Shooting

Three men were convicted of murder and sentenced in a gas station shooting that killed a 30-year-old man, Gwinnett prosecutors say.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Three men accused of being Blood gang members were sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday after prosecutors say they shot and killed a man they tried to rob in Peachtree Corners.

Gwinnett District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson on Wednesday said 30-year-old New Orleans resident Bradley Lamar Coleman died in the fatal shooting on July 10, 2022.

The three men convicted in the deadly shooting were Josiah Hughley, Jr., 22, David Jarrad Booker, 23, and Miles Collins, 22, prosecutors said.

At the time of the shooting, Coleman was putting air into his tire while at a Peachtree Corners gas station. Prosecutors said the defendants then pulled next to Coleman's Dodge Charger in a rented Mercedes-Benz car.

They intended to steal the Charger "to increase their gang status," prosecutors said.

Hughley was accused of getting into the driver's seat of the Charger and attempting to drive off in it before hitting another car. Prosecutors said he was unable to pull away from the scene.

Coleman then confronted Hughley, who then shot Coleman in the head, prosecutors said.

Video footage shown during the trial depicted Booker approaching the Charger with a drawn gun as Hughley fired, prosecutors said.

Hughley then retrieved Coleman's gun from the Charger before he and Booker returned to the rented getaway car that Collins drove, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors accused Hughley of selling the gun stolen from Coleman's car.

Investigators tracked the defendants through their cell phones, prosecutors said.

Booker, Hughley and Collins were each convicted of two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, hijacking a motor vehicle, 10 counts of violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, prosecutors said.

The trio was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 145 years consecutively, prosecutors said.

“We continue to mourn this unconscionably tragic death and hope this verdict and sentencing brings Mr. Coleman’s family justice and solace,” Austin-Gatson said in a news release. “Gang activity and the violence it invites has no place in the lives of our young people.”
