4-Time Convicted Felon Gets Life in Taxi Cab Robbery Case

Dennis Raheem Simmons, found guilty of 2011 armed robberies in the Norcross area, was sentenced under Georgia's Recidivist Statute.

The Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office said a four-time convicted felon has been sentenced to life without parole after he was found guilty of robbing taxi cab drivers in the Norcross area in 2011.

Dennis Raheem Simmons was sentenced Thursday after a four-day trial. Judge Karen E. Beyers issued the sentence under Georgia’s Recidivist Statute, the office said in a press release.

Simmons and a co-defendant were charged with robbing Hispanic cab drivers in the Norcross area in 2011. The co-defendant had a gun during the robberies; the co-defendant has already pleaded guilty, according to the DA’s office.
