Peachtree Elementary Students Learn Value of Clean Water

Two of the Fifth grade classes took on The Water Project as part of their International Baccalaureate (IB) Exhibition Primary Years Programme.

They selected this project to demonstrate how they could make a difference by attempting to solve a global problem, such as safe and clean drinking water.

The project, which was started by two 5th grade classes, expanded to all of fifth grade and to the entire school participating in the effort.

The project involved students and adults sacrificing their use of bottled water and juice, as well as donating and collecting money to finance the building a well for a community of 60 people in Africa.  The project lasted 10 days and in that 10 days they raised $1,200 for their cause.

They also learned an appreciation for the clean and safe water we have in our community. For more information see thewaterproject.org.
